Gong Yoo Admits To Feeling Uneasy Following The Massive Success Of “Goblin”
Gong Yoo expressed feeling anxious and uneasy after the success of ‘Goblin’.
On September 29th, an episode of “Pinggyego” featured appearances by Yoo Jae Suk, Gong Yoo, Jo Se Ho, and Yang Se Chan, where they discussed the Chuseok holiday.
When asked if he also feels anxious or uneasy, Gong Yoo replied, “Yes, I do. I don’t know how to handle it, but I think I experienced it once in my 20s and once in my 30s.”
He continued, “The cause of this uneasiness can’t be clearly explained. For example, ‘Goblin’ did really well, but I wasn’t happy. Even though it was successful, there was a corner of my heart that felt empty and incomplete, and I couldn’t find peace.”
Gong Yoo also mentioned, “It’s not about things going well or being difficult. It’s about not being able to enjoy the spotlight or happiness when a project does well in terms of timing. But it’s difficult to talk about this openly. While others might be in a time when they seem to be flying high, if I were to say that something feels off with me, it might sound indulgent and self-absorbed..”
He added, “After going through that intensely, my perspective on looking at others changed. I began to wish for others not to go through what I went through if possible.”
