The cast of the highly anticipated “Dr. Romantic 3” has discussed the drama during its press conference, here is what they talked about!
On the afternoon of the 26th, the production presentation of the new SBS Fri-Sat drama “Dr. Romantic 3” was held. The event was attended by PD Yoo, as well as actors Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, Kim Min Jae, Jin Kyung, Im Won Hee, and more.
Firstly, when asked about what romanticism he wants to convey in this era, Han Suk Kyu said, “That’s a difficult question. I’m worried that my answer might be too long. What I find more interesting is asking our colleagues, juniors, and seniors on the set about how they approach their acting. Why did they choose this path, and does their past story come into play? The essence of such questions is to ask oneself, ‘What made me start and continue doing this? What am I trying to convey through acting?’ Lately, I’ve been asking others as a joke, ‘What does it mean to be good at acting?'”
Kim Min Jae, who grew into a leading actor role six years after Season 1, and Yoon Na Moo, who won the Best Actor Award at the 2023 Korea Musical Awards, have had significantly different positions since then. It’s possible that they might have found it difficult to participate, but Kim Min Jae said, “When I filmed ‘Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim’ Season 1, I was 20-21 years old, but now I’m 28. I learned a lot of acting while working on this project when I had just started acting, but I also learned how to live and act according to the planned intention. So, when I heard that I could do Season 2 and even Season 3, I really wanted to do it. I’m so grateful that I can receive this question, and I think it’s an honor to be able to contribute to Season 3, having grown like this.”
Yoon Na Moo also said, “I first saw the audition for ‘Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim’ Season 1 when I was acting in plays and musicals. The director Yoo In-sik and writer Kang Eun-kyung are like parents to me because they gave me my first drama experience. So I had no reason not to participate.”
What drove the “Dr. Romantic 3” series to make Season 3? Director Yoo says it’s the viewers who patiently waited for it. Another driving force is that many actors who became stars after Season 2 returned to the hospital by adjusting their schedules, which is not common in the industry and shows the actors’ willingness to partake in the seasonal drama again.
Ahn Hyo Seop said, “I don’t have a specific reason for why I decided to do Dr. Romantic 3.’ I just felt like I needed to do it, so here I am,” and received applause from those around him. To this, Lee Sung Kyung added, “I don’t have a specific reason either. Of course, I’m part of the ‘Doldam’ family, and of course, this is where I belong. There are so many patients overflowing, where else should I be?”
“Dr. Romantic 3” is a drama that depicts the story of doctors that takes place in a poor provincial rundown hospital as its backdrop. Season 1, which aired in 2016, and Season 2, which aired in 2020, were both loved by viewers with the highest rating of over 27%, becoming a successful example of a Korean-style seasonal drama and leading to the production of Season 3. It will premiere on the 28th of April at 10 pm.
