JTBC has began teasing the 2024 Drama “Doctor Slump” ahead of its highly anticipated premiere!
Recently, JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama “Doctor Slump,” directed by Oh Hyun-jong and written by Baek Sun-woo, released behind-the-scenes photos of the cast’s script reading, building anticipation for the show.
“Doctor Slump” is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of a couple, Yeo Jung Woo (played by Park Hyung Sik) and Nam Ha-neul (played by Park Shin Hye), whose lives take a downturn and then go through a romantic revival. The drama, directed by Oh Hyun-jong and written by Baek Sun-woo, promises to bring laughter, excitement, and heartwarming comfort as the two rivals find light in each other during their ‘failed lives.’
The behind-the-scenes photos revealed the script reading session attended by director Oh Hyun-jong, writer Baek Sun-woo, and the solid cast including Park Hyung Sik, Park Shin Hye, Yoon Park, Gong Sung Ha, Jang Hye Jin, Hyun Bong Sik, Yoon Sang Hyun,and others.
The chemistry between Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye, who are reuniting after 10 years since “The Heirs,” was perfect. Park Hyung Sik, playing star plastic surgeon Yeojung-woo, showcased another transformation as he falls into the worst slump of his life. From being the top student in school to becoming a star doctor, his character’s emotional rollercoaster after a medical accident adds depth to his role.
Park Shin Hye, in the role of Nam Ha-neul, a doctor suffering from burnout, signaled her return to romantic comedy. Her character, who excelled in academics and devoted herself to studying, now, as an adult doctor, works passionately, embodying the essence of burnout. Her performance resonated with real-world empathy.
Yoon Park played the role of the flashy plastic surgeon, Bin Dae Yong, with irreplaceable charisma. He harbors a rivalry with his university friend Yeojung-woo but understands him better than anyone else.
