Disney+ “Shadow Detective 2” has held its press conference, here are some key moments from the event!

On the 3rd of July, a press conference for Disney+ original series “Shadow Detective 2” was held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul. Lee Sung Min, Kyung Soo Jin, Lee Hak Joo, Kim Shin Rok and director Han Dong Hwa attended the event.

“Shadow Detective 2,” which will be released on Disney+ on the 5th of July, depicts the final counterattack of detective Kang Tae-rok (played by Lee Sung Min), who returns to chase the hidden mastermind behind the threat from his “friend.” Following the success and love received from the previous season, which was released in October last year, the new season will pursue a massive evil force.

Director Han Dong Wwa said, “Shadow Detective’ had a difference from typical genre films. It has tears and the scent of people. The character Kim Tae-rok has charm. It is not easy to express human emotions when the story focuses on cases, but I consider ‘Shadow Detective’ to be a human genre. It was a new challenge, and it left a strong impression.”

He further expressed deep trust in Lee Sung Min, saying, “It was a challenging and difficult endeavor, but Lee Sung Min broke through with his acting skills. I was deeply moved. I felt and learned a lot. If I were to challenge a human genre again, I wouldn’t do it without someone with such outstanding acting skills. “

Regarding the differences from the first season, the director said, “When looking at the second season as a whole, I think it expands the world view. It is comprehensive and offers various attractions. If the first season was about defending against one-sided enemy attacks, the second season is about an implicit battle with the enemies, an invisible confrontation. It will feel like watching a spy thriller, and it will be entertaining.”

Lee Sung Min reprised his role as Kim Tae-rok, who searches for the mastermind behind the evil plot, following the first season. Lee Sung Min said, “There were talks about a second season after the first season, so I was mentally prepared for it. The script was different from the first season. If Tae-rok had a lot of physical and stamina consumption in the first season, he returns in the second season as a Tae-rok who uses his mind a lot. It will be more of a spy thriller rather than action. “

Kim Shin Rok plays the role of Yeo Joo-hyun, the team leader of the female juvenile division, in the second season. Kim Shin Rok said, “When I received the proposal for the second season, it was before the first season aired. There were rumors in the industry that it was a very exciting project, so I gladly participated. While filming, the first season was being broadcast, and I thought, ‘I’ve entered a very interesting work.’ I told myself that I should work hard not to stand out negatively. “

Speaking about her character Yeo Joo-hyun, she said, “It’s unclear whether she is an enemy or a friend to Tae-rok. She plays a role that brings tension and suspense. Her true identity is gradually revealed as the story progresses.”

Kyung Soo Jin reprised her role as Detective Lee Sung-ah of the Geumoh Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit 2, following the first season. Kyung Soo Jin mentioned that she had a good rapport with Lee Sung Min and Lee Hak Joo in the first season. She said, “Before entering the second season, we met separately and had many conversations. When filming the second season, I felt excited about starting something new, even though I was working with familiar people. Sung-ah is different from the first season. If in the first season, it was unclear why she admired Tae-rok without showing her emotions, in the second season, the narrative will reveal the answers to those questions. I hope to show a new side of her.”

Lee Hak Joo played the role of Detective Son Gyeong-chan of the Geumoh Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit 2. He mentioned that he had never filmed a season-based drama before, so he was happy to continue portraying his character in the second season. He said, “Compared to the first season, Gyeong-chan has grown a little and become more serious. I worried whether such changes would be acceptable. I experienced a mix of stability and anxiety while filming.”

Lee Sung Min commented, “If the first season was like fishing, the second season is like catching fish with a net or a trap. When the first season was broadcast, people told me, ‘I knew who the culprit was from the beginning.’ It was fun to find and speculate about the suspicious culprits. There will be even more enjoyment in identifying and suspecting the culprits.”

“Shadow Detective 2” will premiere on the 5th of July at 4 PM on Disney+.
