Disney+ Confirms Casting And Broadcast Details For Upcoming Drama Starring Song Kang Ho, Byun Yo Han And More

The highly anticipated drama ‘Uncle Samshik’ will be released through Disney+.

Disney+ announced on the 3rd of January that ‘Uncle Samshik’, which has attracted attention as actor Song Kang Ho’s first series in his acting career, will be available for viewers in the first half of this year.

‘Uncle Samshik’ is a work that tells the story of Samshik (played by Song Kang Ho), who ensures that he eats three meals a day even during the chaos of 1960s South Korea, and Kim San (played by Byun Yo Han), an elite young man who wanted to create a country where everyone eats well and lives well, meeting and pursuing their dreams together.

Song Kang Ho will portray Park Du-chil, who is called Uncle Samshik, and is a character who lived through the turbulent era of the early 1960s and follows his own rule of not starving himself. Anticipation is high for the portrayal of a character that only Song Kang-ho can complete through his eyes and breathing.

Byun Yo Han will portray the role of Kim San. Kim San is an elite who comes from a military background and is passionate about promoting national reconstruction projects to turn South Korea into an industrialized nation. When he meets Uncle Samshik, who promises to help him achieve his dreams, he encounters a new path.

Actor Lee Kyu Hyung takes on the role of Kang Sung-min. Kang Sung-min, who is gaining attention as a potential future leader, is a character who uses Uncle Samshik to fulfill his desires, adding tension to the drama. Actress Jin Ki Joo portrays Ju Yeo-jin, Kim San’s lover and an elite woman, showcasing her diverse charms. Actor Seo Hyun Woo takes on the role of Jung Han-min, an elite soldier from the military. He is expected to once again showcase a strong presence.

‘Uncle Samshik’ is written and directed by Shin Yeon-shik, who gained attention for his screenplays for films such as ‘Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet’ and ‘The Spider’s Web’.

‘Samshiki’s Uncle’ will be released on Disney+ in 2024.
