The drama “Moon in the Day” based on the popular webtoon has been unveiled to the viewers.

The production presentation of ENA’s Wednesday drama “Moon in the Day” was held in Seoul on the 1st. Director Pyo Min Soo attended the production presentation along with actors Kim Young Dae, Pyo Ye Jin, and On Joo Wan, and Jung Woong In.

“Moon in the Day” is a dangerous and poignant reincarnation romance that depicts a man who is killed by his beloved lover and stops time, and a woman who loses her memories of her past life and endlessly flows forward. With overwhelming scale that transcends the past and the present, and a captivating story, the drama is expected to captivate viewers.

ENA’s first attempt at a historical drama, “Moon in the Day,” is directed by Pyo Min Soo, who previously directed dramas such as “Producers” and “The World They Live In.”

When asked to introduce their characters on this day, Kim Young Dae said, “Han Jun-oh is the top star of his time and he lacks intelligence. He is a very emotional and impulsive friend. On the other hand, Dohwa is an elite general in the Silla Dynasty, a cold and rational character. I play characters that are completely opposite.”

Pyo Ye Jin said, “Kang Young-hwa is a capable and brave person who is called the ‘miracle firefighter.’ She becomes Jun-oh’s temporary bodyguard and encounters a fateful moment. Han Ri-ta is from the noble class of Gaya, but her family is annihilated because of Dohwa, and she dreams of revenge.”

“Moon in the Day” is based on a webtoon of the same name that boasts 700 million cumulative views. It must have been a difficult decision to adapt it into a drama. Director Pyo Min Soo said, “The original work itself is famous, and there were difficult challenges in adapting it into a drama since it connects the past and the present, plays dual roles, and portrays love in the modern era, which has been done in many other dramas.”

The drama is titled “Moon in the Day.” Regarding the reason for taking on the directing role, director Pyo said, “First of all, because it is such a famous work, and I have never challenged myself in a historical drama before. Also, it includes romance and melodrama genres, so I decided to take on this challenge.”

During the press conference, there was a surprise question from Park Kyung-rim, who played the role of a socialite. She asked each cast member, based on their characters, whether they believe in reincarnation or not. Everyone except for On Joo-wan answered that they believe in reincarnation. On Joo Wan explained, “I answered based on my character. Personally, I believe in it. If I believe in it based on my character, who has to protect his younger brother, it would create inconsistencies. That’s why I said ‘X.’ Personally, I think it’s ‘O’.”

In response to the question, Pyo Ye Jin said, “At first, I don’t believe in reincarnation. But after meeting Joon-oh, I couldn’t help but believe in it. In the end, it’s ‘O’ because of Joon-oh.” Kim Young Dae also said, “I believe in it as a character. Joon-oh doesn’t know anything. As the person behind the creation of Dohwa, I believe in it.”

Jung Woong In added, “Seok-cheol-hwan, as a representative of Beginning Entertainment, wanted to make friends with Joon-oh in order to enjoy wealth and fame. Maybe he is the strongest in achieving that through reincarnation.”

When the webtoon was adapted into a drama, the most significant change was the characters’ occupations. Kim Young Dae and Pyo Ye Jin played a top star and a firefighter, respectively. Director Pyo Min-soo explained, “The occupation of a top star is a common one that has been seen a lot. This part was discussed with the author, and we felt that there were limitations in portraying the present when we brought the original work to the modern era.”

When asked about the charm of the drama compared to other webtoon adaptations, director Pyo said, “Since the feeling from the original work is manifested in real characters, there is fun in watching the synchronization rate, and I think it will be different to see the present. The past is the basic story, and how they are living in the present. Can yesterday’s love exist as today’s love? How will today’s love be carried, and how will they view tomorrow? I focused on that.”

“Moon in the Day” premiered earlier today.
