Cha Eun Woo, Park Gyu Young, and Lee Hyun Woo Take on the Risk of a Once-a-Week Drama Slot with the Fantasy Romance “A Good Day To Be A Dog“!

On the afternoon of the 11th of October, the MBC’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “A Good Day To Be A Dog” production presentation was held at the MBC Golden Mouse Hall . The three actors and the director attended the event.

“A Good Day To Be A Dog” is a fantasy romance drama about a woman who turns into a dog when she kisses and the only cheat key to undo the curse, a man who is terrified of dogs. The drama is based on the webtoon of the same name.

Director Kim Dae-woong expressed his satisfaction with the casting, saying, “I read the original work and met the writer. The writer was much more satisfied with the casting. She said it matched even better than what she had drawn. I was glad that the characters in the original work and the actors matched so well. They acted more adorably than I expected, so I’m very satisfied.”

He also praised the actors, “Cha Eun Woo is a smart actor. He quickly catches and transforms. Park Gyu Young is meticulous. Lee Hyun Woo is flexible.”

Given that it’s a Wednesday drama scheduled once weekly, does Kim Dae-woong have any special confidence? Director Kim said, “I hope our drama sets a good precedent for once-a-week broadcast dramas. Since it has a special and comedic aspect as a rom-com, I think it can be consumed a lot on OTT platforms as well.”

Cha Eun Woo takes on the role of Jin Seo-won, a high school math teacher with a childhood trauma of being afraid of dogs. Cha Eun Woo explained, “He’s a friend with a trauma he doesn’t want to be exposed. I tried to express the expressions and looks when he overcomes his trauma through Haena. We discussed a lot about the turning point of emotions.”

Park Gyu Young plays Hae-na, a high school Korean teacher who inherited a special curse that turns her into a dog when she kisses. Park Gyu Young said, “The process of turning into a dog was difficult for the staff due to CG elements and shooting techniques. After I turned into a dog, the lines as ‘Kkina’ were dubbed to make it understandable to the viewers.”

She praised her chemistry with Cha Eun Woo and Lee Hyun Woo, saying, “I never stopped laughing. The character has a one-sided love for Hyun Woo, and a role with romance with Eun Woo, so I had a very good synergy. Eun Woo and I debuted together but are four years apart. He existed on the set with a solid energy. Hyun Woo is the same age, but he is much senior. As a senior, he learned a lot, and he always gave off bright and comfortable energy. I’m grateful.”

Lee Hyun Woo plays Lee Bo-gyeom, a high school Korean history teacher, and a mountain god hiding a blade in a smiling face. Lee Hyun Wo said, “It’s a character with a twist. As a mountain god, he casts a curse on Seo won and Hae na. I wondered who was casting the curse.”

When asked about how well he synced with his character, Cha Eun Woo humorously stated, “70%.” He continued, “I tried to portray a friend who had a trauma and didn’t want to be exposed. I tried to express the expressions and looks when he overcame his trauma through Haena. We discussed a lot about the turning point of emotions.”

Park Gyu Young added, “Hae-na has a much better personality than me. She is lively, energetic, and strong. I learned a lot from Hae-na. During the filming period, I was able to spend time with a brighter energy than I had, so I’m thankful. I’m not friendly with dogs.”

The drama will compete in the same time slot as tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block.’ When asked about the competition, Director Kim expressed his confidence, saying, “I think the word of mouth will spread a lot, so I’m not worried.” Cha Eun Woo stated, “We filmed the drama sincerely according to its theme. If we put our hearts into it, I think more people will watch our drama.” Lee Hyun Woo added, “I love you, tvN, but please watch “A Good Day To Be A Dog””

The 14-episode drama “A Good Day To Be A Dog” will premiere on the 11th at 9 PM, and the first week will feature back-to-back episodes 1 and 2.
