The SM EXO-CBX Dispute Is Over: SM Reveals Both Parties Have Resolved Their Misunderstandings, Members To Remain Under SM

SM Entertainment and the group EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin  and have reached an amicable agreement. This resolves the contractual disputes that arose just 19 days ago.

On the 19th, SM and EXO-CBX issued a joint statement, stating, “We have been able to resolve the misunderstandings and disagreements that arose due to previous misunderstandings and reach a mutually satisfactory agreement.”

SM stated, “Recently, our company and the three artists have been publicly raising issues from different perspectives. Subsequently, our company and the three artists had sufficient time to openly discuss all the issues.”

Both parties agreed to continue EXO’s activities while acknowledging and maintaining the contractual relationship. Through discussions and modifications, they reached a mutual agreement.

SM explained, “We listened to and understood the thoughts of the three artists, and we also provided a detailed explanation of our position. The three artists also opened their hearts and understood our position regarding the artist contract. As a result, our company and the three artists have decided to proceed with equal consultations and modifications to solidify our relationship. We will support and encourage the three artists to fully express their individuality and engage in activities in new ways and styles.”

SM added, “Initially, our company received reports that a third-party external force was approaching the three artists with unjust intentions, which we mentioned as the main cause of this controversy. However, through the discussions, we have come to realize that our company had misunderstandings regarding the involvement of a third-party external force. We would like to apologize to those concerned for causing concerns with our announcement.”

SM and EXO-CBX apologized, saying, “We apologize to the fans, including the members of EXO and those who have believed in and waited for us. We will do our best to repay the support of many people.”

With the resolution of the dispute between SM and EXO-CBX, it is expected that EXO’s comeback and activities will proceed without any issues. EXO will release their 7th regular album, “EXIST,” on July 10th. This album comes two years after the release of their special album, “Don’t Fight the Feeling,” in 2021 and marks the group’s first full-length album in approximately 3 years and 8 months since their 6th regular album, “Obsession,” in 2019.
