Director Yeon Sang-ho hinted at the possibility of a season 2 for “Parasyte: The Grey.”
On the morning of the 9th of April, director Yeon Sang-ho, who directed the Netflix series “Parasyte: The Grey” met with Xsportsnews at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
“Parasyte: The Grey” follows the story of a special team called “The Grey” who start their operations to thwart parasitic organisms that expand their influence by using humans as hosts. The story also revolves around the human Seo-in (played by Jeon So Nee) who ends up in a symbiotic relationship with a parasitic organism.
In the final part of episode 6, top Japanese actor Masaki Suda makes a cameo as the protagonist Shinichi Izumi from the original Japanese manga “Parasite,” attracting attention.
When asked about the possibility of season 2 for “Parasyte: The Grey”, Director Yeon Sang-ho stated, “The decision for season 2 is not up to me. It has to be decided by Netflix. When I talked with Masaki Suda, we had some ideas for the future storyline. I shared some details with him about when he would appear in the story.”
He also mentioned showing the full outline and scenario for season 2 to actor Lee Jung Hyun, raising curiosity.
When asked about the possibility of a joint collaboration between Korea and Japan for season 2, Director Yeon replied, “I can’t reveal too many details, but Shinichi would appear. It’s a pretty important role.”
Regarding the age of the character Shinichi Izumi, played by Masaki Suda, Yeon Sang-ho explained, “The age I set for the character doesn’t match. The latter part of “Parasyte: The Grey” takes place eight years after the previous storyline.”
Yeon praised Masaki’s casting, saying, “He may not be very young, but he has a youthful charm that matched the image I was looking for. We needed a unique character in the Parasite world, and he agreed to the casting without hesitation, despite concerns about his popularity.”
Director Yeon hinted that if “Parasyte: The Grey” season 2 were to happen, it could involve serious and unexpected storylines, leaving room for speculation.
“Parasyte: The Grey” is currently available on Netflix.
