It has been acknowledged that the police have initiated an investigation into actor Lee Sun Kyun (48) and singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong) without any concrete evidence. However, they have stated that it is not an unreasonable investigation.

A police official stated at a press conference on the 13th of November, “In drug crime investigations, the determination of suspicion is based not only on the results of drug tests but also on statements from relevant individuals and forensic evidence.”

He explained, “However, it is a difficult situation to investigate without clear evidence before the arrest, but we are conducting the investigation according to legal procedures.”

Lee Sun Kyun tested negative in the detailed analysis of hair and urine samples, while G-Dragon also received a negative result in the preliminary drug test. The police plan to conduct a detailed analysis of Lee Sun Kyun’s leg hair and G-Dragon’s fingernails.

The police official stated, “It is true that the investigation was initiated based on statements without clear evidence,” and explained, “We cannot ignore the statements (from the relevant individuals) without verifying them.”

He further stated, “We started the investigation before the arrest to verify this, but it was revealed (through the media) before we could complete it. It was like revealing something before it was cooked, without knowing whether it would be a delicacy or a disaster.”

He added, “We are gradually doing what we can in the investigation process.”

Currently, among the individuals being investigated or questioned by the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency for drug administration suspicions, including Lee Sun Kyun and G-Dragon, there are a total of 10 people. Among them, five, including Lee Sun Kyun and G-Dragon, have been formally charged, while the remaining five are in the pre-arrest investigation stage.

On the other hand, G-Dragon’s case was initiated based on A’s statement alone. According to Channel A on the 10th, A stated during the police investigation, “Suspicious packaging was found in the restroom of the establishment after Kwon Ji-yong visited it in early December last year,” and said, “His behavior was also strange right after that.”

Based on A’s statement, the investigation into G-Dragon for drug administration was initiated.
