Ryu Jun Yeol has finally spoken about his past relationship with Han So Hee at the press conference for the Netflix original series ‘The 8 Show’!
The production presentation for ‘The 8 Show’ was held at a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 10th of May. Director Han Jae Rim, as well as actors Ryu Jun Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Lee Yeol Eum, Park Hae Joon, Lee Joo Young, Moon Jung Hee, and Bae Sung Woo attended the event and shared various stories.
‘The 8 Show’ is a Netflix series that depicts the story of 8 characters trapped in a secretive space divided into 8 floors, participating in a sweet but dangerous show where they earn money as time passes. It is a work adapted from the webtoons ‘Money Game’ and ‘Pai Game’ by author Bae Jin Soo, who recorded a cumulative view count of 300 million globally, with the themes of ‘politics’ and ‘economy’, depicting the primal desires of individuals conflicting in a capitalist society with director Han Jae Rim’s unique style.
Recently, Ryu Jun Yeol found himself at the center of controversy due to rumors of a transit relationship during his public relationship with actress Han So Hee. Their 14-day dating experience and subsequent breakup process became the talk of the town, capturing people’s attention. Ryu Jun Yeol, who has returned to his main profession, opened up about the previous controversies. He stated, “Amid personal life issues, with various posts appearing on SNS beyond my control at that time, I thought it was best to remain silent and endure the criticism that ensued.”
In addition, actor Ryu Jun Yeol, who was known for leading environmental protection efforts, faced controversy when he was revealed to be a golf enthusiast and appeared at a golf course. He also faced criticism for holding a calf leather ‘calfskin’ bag at a fashion brand event. Previously, on March 15, a netizen alleged they had seen Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol in Hawaii. Both of their agencies initially said they could not comment on the situation until it took a turn when Hyeri, who had dated Ryu Jun Yeol for nearly 7 years, issued a cryptic post saying “I find it funny/amusing” to her SNS. She also ended up unfollowing him on Instagram causing speculation over whether Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol had dated while he was still together with Hyeri.
Initially, Han So Hee issued a statement denying she’d ever be in a relationship with a taken man, however, a day later she confirmed she was indeed dating Ryu Jun Yeol via a blog post and talked about the timeline of her boyfriend and Hyeri’s breakup, leading to even more speculations and accusations.
After only 2 weeks and several more controversies mostly relating to Han So Hee continuously discussing the topic online, the former couple broke it off. Ryu Jun Yeol’s handling of the dating news garnered immense backlash from netizens and fans.
