HYBE And MBC End Their Feud After Four Years, To Mend Relationships

Over the past four years, there has been a hiatus in artist and content exchange between MBC and HYBE and it looks like its finally been resolved.

MBC CEO Ahn Hyung-jun expressed regret for the artists who were hurt by past wrong and outdated production practices and proposed a dialogue with HYBE to establish advanced production practices. In response, HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk made a surprise visit to MBC on Monday, October 30th, and had a conversation with CEO Ahn Hyung-jun.

During the meeting, MBC CEO Ahn Hyung-jun sincerely welcomed Chairman Bang Si-hyuk’s visit and stated, “We must improve the entrenched and flawed production culture that has become a long-standing practice between broadcasting companies and entertainment companies. Let’s create an environment for producing content with mutual respect and consideration.” He also announced that MBC will take the lead in establishing a fair partnership and enhancing the rights of artists, creating an entertainment environment that allows for mutual growth.

HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk expressed deep gratitude for MBC’s consideration in raising the rights of K-pop artists and said, “I hope that this meeting will be an opportunity for the establishment of advanced production practices not only between the two companies, but also throughout the domestic entertainment industry.” He also mentioned that he hopes this meeting will lead to the development of a future-oriented opinion for the advancement of K-pop and K-content.

During this meeting between the top entertainment company and broadcasting company in South Korea, CEO Ahn Hyung-jun and Chairman Bang Si Hyuk candidly discussed future-oriented opinions for the development of K-pop and K-content. Both parties agreed to announce concrete collaborative plans for a paradigm shift in the entertainment industry in the near future.
