Hanteo Chart has raised eyebrows and angered BTS fans after recanting its recent announcement about album sales!

On September 8, the chart said BTS’s V “Layover” has set a new record on Hanteo as the highest-selling album by a solo artist for first-day sales. According to their initial release, the album sold 1.02 million copies of the regular version and around 310,000 copies of the Weverse version by 5:07 PM on the same day.

While ARMY celebrated the huge happy news, the chart would come back to reverse its announcement about the specific number. They released a statement in both English and Korea that reads, “The real-time sales volume of ‘V (BTS) – Layover, Weverse Albums ver.’ on September 8 was overcounted due to violation of KPOPMERCH regulations, and a correction notice was issued after reviewing the entire actual sales volume.”

As it stands, the Hanteo Chart revealed the new sales number which eliminated a considerable number of album sales, even with this in mind, BTS V still made a record for 1st day album sales by a soloist for the chart.
