Girls’ Generation’s Sunny has left SM Entertainment!
On August 8, the idol took to Instagram to share the news personally, this was also accompanied by an official statement from SM confirming her departure from the agency. Her contract had come to an end. SM expressed their gratitude to Sunny and asked for fans’ support of her new journey.
To announce the news of her departure, Sunny wrote,
Hello, this is Girls’ Generation’s Sunny.
Along with expressing my gratitude for the 16th anniversary of Girls’ Generation’s debut, I have some stories I want to share, which is why I am writing this post.
Looking back, there are truly many people I am thankful for over these 16 years. Precious members who are like another version of myself, our beloved families, staff members who silently stood by our side, fans who became our strength with their mere presence…
Today, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude and greetings to SM Entertainment, who played a crucial role in enabling me, Sunny, to debut as part of Girls’ Generation at the age of 19.
I am grateful to all the managers who have been with us, working tirelessly and sharing the ups and downs throughout these 16 years in the entertainment industry. To all the employees who helped us provide positive energy to many people through various stages and content with good music and good performances, thank you.
Debuting as “Girls’ Generation” and meeting the members and the fans, I am truly happy day by day. Now, I am summoning the courage to see myself from a different perspective in a new environment. The unwavering support and affection from fans and those who care about me, who have sent their support over a long period of time, has made this possible. No matter what kind of days lie ahead, I will continue to move forward as the energetic Sunny.
