Billboard is introducing another award show, this one is specifically for K-pop!

On October 24, Billboard announced the news via social media, the award will be titled, “THE-K Billboard Awards,” and it will “highlighting the dazzling achievements of K-POP artists based on the Billboard charts.”

The upcoming award show will be the final event of the 2022 K-Culture Festival and will be held on October 28 at 8 p.m. It will also be live streamed on K-Culture Festival’s official YouTube channel.

Previously, the 2022 K-Culture Festival was held over 9 days and featured many A-list performers including NCT DREAM, WINNER, MONSTA X, IVE, Block B’s Zico, STAYC, WJSN, MAX, CRAVITY, MCND, and BLANK2Y.

The upcoming “THE-K Billboard Awards” will be held on October 28 at 8 p.m. KST.

Despite the introduction, many K-pop are showing pushback against Billboard calling the award show an odd choice. Many question why Billboard just didn’t choose to nominate Kpop acts alongside other acts on its main award show, and some went as far as to calling the award show racist claiming it segregate Kpop artists and music from the rest.

Do you think THE-K Billboard Awards is a good idea?
