Netflix has released “Goodbye Earth” earlier today, this is a recap of its 12th episode and the ending explained!
“Goodbye Earth” episode 12 recap
While the group is at church singing, Yun-Sang brings Father Baek to see the church, he gets inside while everyone is looking at him. He’s delirious and unable to process time. He rambles on but then is escorted back to his place.
With only 20 days left on earth, the reporter says goodbye to people and leaves. Se-Kyung and Yun-Sang are home and he’s writing stuff down he doesn’t want her to see. But she takes a look at his bucket list that he has to fulfill before their death, they have a lot of things to do.
Su-Dong and his wife attempt to starve themselves to death but they give up because its too hard.
Later, Se-Kyung and Gye-Hyang discuss having the kids [woo chan and hae chan] adopted overseas but both are worried deeply about what might happen to them. Later, Se-Kyung discusses this with In-A and Seon Ju, Seon Ju suggests they send the kids anyways and asks In-A to butter up the higher-ups.
In-A checks the ammunition and everything else and ends up leaving it in the hands of another solider, she was formally discharged. After this ends, she comes to see Se-Kyung and says she wanted to be badly acknowledged and lived her life for others. They end up hugging it out, but Se-Kyung can tell something is wrong with her. Before she leaves, In-A gives Yun-Sang ammunition for his gun and tells him to protect his wife. In-A also says goodbye to her mother before leaving her.
Se-Kyung goes to the ship port and sees Seargent Park giving a man some drugs and offering him to leave but he has to bring three kids.
Mi-Ryung and her husband close down their shop and give some of whats left for church before leaving for good. They say goodbye to them before leaving.
Se-Kyung goes to see grandma Kim Bo-Ae who says she doesn’t want to get married, she tells the grandma if she had killed her son, would things have turned out differently, she then says she regrets the past and cries.
Se-Kyung then goes to check up on the kids who have barricaded themselves. She finds out that Seargent Kim is trying to convince one of the kids to come with him and bring the other two. They tell her not to do anything drastic but she is pissed, she ends up taking the gun Yun-Sang hid and goes to kill the sergeant.
Yun-Sang has a dream and he’s in a forest separated from Se-Kyung, he cannot follow her because of a gap that prevents him from jumping. when he wakes up, he realizes what she did. He fills his backpack with chemicals and stuffs the bottles with cloth as if he’s preparing a homemade bomb. He takes the bicycle there while Se-Kyung got inside and began shooting at the people who tried to traffic the kids. She gets into a direct confrontation and the man she’s trying to shoot draws his gun.
Yun-Sang is laughing-crying riding the bicycle to the same location knowing well she’s probably shot dead ready to wreak havoc.
The asteroid is close to hitting the earth.
