Netflix Unveils The Release Date Of Their Upcoming Kdramas And K-Movies, “Hellbound,” “The Silent Sea” And More

Netflix has finally shared details about their highly anticipated Korean content releases for the rest of 2021 and the beginning of 2022.

On September 25, Netflix held a global fan event TUDUM. During the event, the streaming platform unveiled the release dates for their upcoming Korean originals.

“My Name”

Release date: October 15, 2021

Cast: Han So Hee, Park Hee Soon, Ahn Bo Hyun, Kim Sang Ho, Lee Hak Joo, Jang Ryul, etc.

Plot summary: “My Name” tells the story of a woman named Yoon Ji Woo’s (Han So Hee) whose father dies suddenly, she wants to avenge his death and find out who’s behind it. She works for a drug crime group Dongcheonpa. Choi Moo Jin (Park Hee Soon) is the boss of the drug gang, he helps her uncover the reason behind her father’s death. Yoon Ji Woo joins the police department to become a mole for the drug group, she gets assigned to work in the drug investigation unit in the police department where she meets her partner Detective Jeon Pil Do (Ahn Bo Hyun).

Plot summary: “Hellbound” is an upcoming Netflix drama directed by the famous director behind “Train to Busan,” and tells the story of a world where humans face a supernatural phenomenon that could either be a miracle or a curse, it’s about the human-made hell created to overcome their hell-like reality. Yoo Ah In plays the role of the head of the emerging religion “Saejinrihoe,” while Park Jung Min and Kim Hyun Joo will play characters that attempt to uncover the truth behind the brainwashing religion.

“Hellbound” has become the first-ever Korean drama to be invited to the prestigious festival, it will be screening in the festival’s “Primetime” section that focuses on TV and movies with impressive storylines and production. The festival is the largest of its kind in North America, it is set to take place from September 9 to September 18.

“The Silent Sea”

Cast: Bae Doona, Gong Yoo, Lee Joon, etc.

Plot summary: The drama will be eight episodes long and is set in 2075 where desertification leaves the earth with shortage of food and water. A special team composed of the main cast is set to retrieve a mysterious sample abandoned on a research station in the moon.

The drama is an extension on the short film directed by director Choi Hang Yong who is also directing the Netflix series. It will be written by Park Eun Gyo from the film “Mother.”

“Juvenile Justice”

Plot summary: “Juvenile Justice” is a legal drama about a prickly judge who hates juvenile offenders, the judge is appointed to a local juvenile court. The judge was a victim of a juvenile crime before, they will set on a journey involving various cases involving troubled youth and discover what it means to be an adult. Kim Hye Soo is taking on the role of Shim Eun Seok, a sharp and level-headed elite judge. Kim Moo Yeol is taking on the role of judge Cha Tae Joo, who has a soft heart and embraces juvenile delinquents. Lee Sung Min is taking on the role of Head Judge Kang Won Joong.

“Live Up to Your Name,” “Dear My Friends,” and “Life” Director Hong Jong Chan is directing the drama.

“All of Us Are Dead”

Plot summary: the upcoming Netflix movie tells the unconventional love story between a man with unique tastes and a woman who unintentionally finds out about his secret. Seohyun is taking on the role of public relations employee Jung Ji Woo, an excellent employee. She has an unfriendly appearance but is actually warm-hearted. Lee Jun Young takes on the role of her co-worker Jung Ji Woo, behind his perfect exterior, he hides his hidden personal taste.
