Kim Bo Ra and Jo Ba Reun
The most recent couple on this list, Actress Kim Bo Ra and director Jo Ba Reun will be getting married in June. The two worked together in the 2021 movie “The Night Shift,” with Kim Bo Ra as the lead actress and Jo Ba Reun as the director.
On the 5th of March, a representative from Kim Bo Ra’s agency NUN Company announced, “Kim Bo Ra will be holding her wedding with director Jo Ba Reun in June.”
Their wedding will be a private event with only immediate family, relatives, and close friends.
Koo Kyo Hwan and Lee Ok Seop
Actor Koo Kyo Hwan also grew his love for director Lee Ok Seop through various works they collaborated on.
The two worked together on many projects such as ‘Fourth Year Bo-Kyung’, ‘Today’s Movie’, ‘Love Documentaries’, ‘After School Time Returns’, ‘Fly to the Sky’, ‘Girls on Top’, ‘Three Sisters’, ‘Maggie’ and more.
Especially, as an 11-year couple, the two mentioned marriage last year.
Last year, director Lee Ok Seop appeared on director Jang Hang-jun’s online channel ‘You Were the Director’. When the topic of marriage came up, Lee Ok-seop candidly said, “I am scared of having a baby as something precious comes into our lives.”
Tang Wei and Kim Tae Yong
Actress Tang Wei also came to date director Kim Tae Yong through the 2009 movie ‘Late Autumn’.
After a long courtship, they had a small wedding in Sweden in 2014 and a formal wedding in Hong Kong. Jeon Jong Seo also formed a connection with director Lee Chung Hyun through the 2020 movie ‘Call’. Recently, Jeon Jong Seo appeared on Shin Dong-yeop’s online channel and revealed her love story with director Lee Chung Hyun.
Jeon Jong Seo shared, “On the day he wrapped up filming, my boyfriend said ‘I just want to walk together’ and came to my house. I thought ‘Did he develop feelings for me? Did he open his heart?’ but (Director Lee Chung Hyun) didn’t come inside my house.” She honestly shared, “While walking, instead of going home, he said ‘I want to eat ramen at the convenience store.’ That kept happening until we finally started dating. It started like that, slowly.”
Jeon Jong Seo expressed her sincere affection, saying, “In the first year, it felt like we were casually dating without thinking about loving this person. As time passed, the reasons why I like him are clear by now. I look forward to the future with this person.”
Moon So Ri and Jang Jun Hwan
Moon So Ri and Jang Jun Hwan, who got married in 2006, also met each other as he directed her in the 2003 music video for Jung Jae-il’s 눈물꽃 (“Flower of Tears”).
On December 24, 2006, Moon married Jang Joon-hwan, director of cult film Save the Green Planet, they’re also both Sungkyunkwan University alumni and have a daughter in 2011.
Hong Sang Soo and Kim Min Hee
Probably the most controversial couple on this list, Hong Sang Soo and Kim Min Hee are a director-actress couple who boldly admitted to having an affair.
Actress Kim Min Hee was considered one of the most talented Korean actresses out there, she focuses mostly on films, but her career took a sudden dip after it was rumored that she was having an affair with director Hong Sang Soo. Some of her previous boyfriends are now top Korean actors including actors Jo In Sung and Lee Soo Hyuk.
Hong Sang Soo and Kim Min Hee met on the set of the 2015 film and had worked together more than 7 films since then. In March of 2017, at the Seoul premiere of “On the Beach at Night Alone,” the director was asked to clarify his relationship with Kim Min Hee, he said, “We’re two people in love. Our love is genuine and sincere.” Kim Min Hee said, “We are dating with sincere feelings of love.”
