Actor Park Seo Joon confessed on the most recent episode of tvN’s ‘You Quiz On The Block’ that he was advised to undergo plastic surgery during his debut preparation process.
On this day, Yoo Jae Suk asked, “Is Park Seo Joon your real name?” and Park Seo Joon replied, “Originally, it was Yong-gyu.” Yoo Jae Suk jokingly said, “A bit like Park Young-gyu hyung,” and Park Seo Joon responded, “I hear that a lot. In high school, whenever people saw only me, they would call me ‘master.'”
Jo Se Ho asked, “Did you start using a stage name during your activities?” and Park Seo Joon confessed, “Since I was young, I had a lot of social anxiety and felt very awkward. I couldn’t even order at a restaurant.”
Park Seo Joon continued, “Even in high school, when I had to mention my name during presentations, I felt uncomfortable calling my own name. Then, when I started thinking about my debut, I went to a naming center. They said it was appropriate to change my name to something more commonly used, as I couldn’t even call my own name. They named me Si-jun. No matter how much I thought about it, I didn’t know. I tried putting a dot on it, and it seemed okay,” revealing the story of how he came to use his stage name.
Furthermore, Park Seo Joon recalled the difficulties he faced during his debut preparation process, saying, “Actually, my eyes were my biggest complex. When I was struggling to debut, I received a lot of criticism. At that time, people preferred people who had more distinct features than me, and I even heard comments like, ‘Where did this kid come from?'”
Yoo Jae Suk exclaimed, “That’s too harsh,” and Park Seo Joon added, “When I received advice to undergo plastic surgery, I wondered if I had made a mistake and if this path was not for me. It was difficult to invest in an uncertain future and to be burdened by my appearance. But as I persevered, good opportunities came, and it turned out well.”
