Learning the truth doesn’t always come with pleasant consequences. Still, our leads aren’t ones to cower away but to face things confidently. While our hero sets on catching the mastermind behind the tragic accident that made him lose his first love. Our heroine has to confront some new findings that might solve the mystery behind her unique ability.

In typical baddies style, the mastermind behind the car accident (Seo-ha’s father?) tries to cover his tracks by shipping Bang, the loan sharks boss, abroad. Yet Bang isn’t one to do as said blindly. He has a card up his sleeve, the hit-and-run driver he recruited himself. So, he wasn’t the one who drove the truck that day but oversaw the preparations instead. Bang contacts Seo-ha, asking for money in exchange for valuable piece of intel about the mastermind, who might be closer than Seo-ha thinks.

Seo-ha hesitates for a bit. But seeing how much the accident hurt his beloved ones, be it Joo-won and Do-yoon’s father who lost their lives or the families they left behind, he makes up his mind. Be it as it may. Seo-ha won’t submit to fear but face it head-on. Learning about Seo-ha’s recent moves, Seo-ha’s father seems so anxious. He calls for Do-yoon to get him to stop Seo-ha from further investigating the accident. But it doesn’t seem like things will go as he planned this time.

Meanwhile, Ji-eum has some confrontations to make. It is evident to her that Ae-kyung and Min-ki have been keeping something from her. While she hasn’t figured out Ae-kyung’s illness yet. She admits to Min-ki about finding him suspicious and going through his belongings. It doesn’t take Min-ki much time to figure out she touched the shaman bells. Instead of denying it, he is frank with Ji-eum. Like her, he remembers his past lives. His life as Min-ki is his 23rd life.

Though she remembers everything else clearly, Ji-eum’s memories of her first life are blurry. She gained some visions after touching the bells, but not enough for her to connect the dots. To learn the reason behind her secret ability, Ji-eum has to remember her first life. Thus, learning about the connection she led with the people she met back then. Re-touching the bells, Ji-eum gets more snippets but nothing concrete yet.

We get some much-needed progress on the romance front. Seo-ha is no longer on his guard while he is with Ji-eum. When she shows up instead of Do-yoon, who has to look after a drunk Cho-won, he doesn’t try to hold it in but opens up to her about sensing his world crashed down. Ji-eum comforts Seo-ha and takes him home, where she cooks the same dish she made for him while they were children.

That night, Ji-eum gives Seo-ha her second confession. And this time, she doesn’t get a no for an answer. Seo-ha admits he likes her but needs some time before he can come to her. What about letting him have the third confession? When he is ready, he will confess his feelings to her.

And it doesn’t look like Ji-eum has to wait for long. When Seo-ha gets a call from Bang asking to meet, an anxious Ji-eum follows him to the loan sharks’ office. Spotting her there, Seo-ha gets worried. What if she gets hurt because of him? Her falling into danger isn’t something he can stand. What a sweet confession. Can we take this as Seo-ha confessing his feelings to Ji-eum?

Bang texts Seo-ha a location for their meeting. And despite Seo-ha’s initial refusal, Ji-eum insists on driving him there. To which Seo-ha reluctantly agrees. Yet Ji-eum has to wait for him in the car while he meets Bang. Watching Seo-ha walk away from her sparks more memories of Ji-eum’s first life. And this time, her visions are clearer. She sees a person’s face. And said person looks like a spitting image of Seo-ha.

Was Seo-ha perhaps Ji-eum’s lover in her first life? Did their love story end tragically hence they got reincarnated and met each other again? Of all the relationships she got into throughout her numerous lives, Ji-eum’s love story with Seo-ha hits different. And having them meet in their first life gives their story more depth.

Wow. The plot is thickening. As it stands, it looks like Min-ki was also a part of Ji-eum’s first life. While her memories are vague, he seems to remember everything clearly yet waits for Ji-eum to catch up with him instead of spoiling it for her. The past lives subplot is far more interesting than the accident arc. Yet I am curious to know if it is Seo-ha’s father or he is covering for someone else.

As for our second couple, I can’t tell if they are also progressing. After taking turns looking after each other while drunk, Cho-won takes the bull by its horns and asks Do-yoon point-blank about his feelings. This time, surprisingly, he doesn’t deny it. But he has no plans to date her. I can see where Do-yoon comes from, yet I don’t want Cho-won, and us by extension, to wait for long. Can’t this ship sail already?
