Kim Go Eun And Ahn Bo Hyun’s New Drama “Yumi’s Cells” Premieres To Surprisingly Low Ratings
Kim Go Eun And Ahn Bo Hyun’s New Drama “Yumi’s Cells” has premiered last night, here is how it did in the ratings battle?
September 17 marked the start of four new kdramas, among them, three are competing for audiences’ attention in the ratings battle. tvN’s “Yumi’s Cells,” SBS’s “One the Woman,” and MBC’s “The Veil” all joined the Friday-Saturday viewership ratings battle.
Among the most anticipated dramas in the mix was the return of Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun in “Yumi’s Cells” but surprisingly, the drama ratings are not as expected.
According to Nielsen Korea, “Yumi’s Cells” episode 1 scored an average nationwide rating of 2.1%, The drama airs at 10:50 p.m. The time slot is slightly overlapping with SBS’s “One the Woman,” and MBC’s “The Veil” [both air at 10:00 p.m.].
However, netizens reactions to the drama have been positive so fans are looking forward to see whether “Yumi’s Cells” ratings improved with it’s second episode.

Honestly I don’t understand the reason why it airs so late. I feel 10:50 pm is really late for this kind of drama (light comedy/romance) and the audience it targets. It finishes close to midnight…And it is not rated +19 so why does it start so late? They lose a big chunk of audience because of that I think. I myself couldn’t wait anymore even though really wanted to watch, so I gave up, watched some else instead.
Yes, l blame it on the time slots. Its too late to air a drama packed with fun & comedy. I wish they change the slot immediately to 8pm or 9pm
Hmmm, after 4 episodes I understand better now why they air it so late…I think they wanted to keep the drama under +15 thinking that due to animation many teens will be willing to watch. But because there are some steamy stuff like kissing scenes and talk about love they probably agreed with the network to air it late, thus limiting the audience.. I can be wrong of course but this is the only explanation I could find. If this is the case it’s a tricky game ratings wise..
because the audience who can watch the dramas airing around midnight are probably older than 15,16,17 or even 18 years old and might not be interested in watching animation and cells dressed as cute babies….)
