On the afternoon of the 12th of April, the production presentation of tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Family” (written by Jung Yoo-sun, directed by Jang Jung Do) was held online. In attendance were PD Jang Jung Do and actors Jang Hyuk, Jang Nara, Chae Jung An, and kim nam hee.
“Family” is a thrilling family spy comedy about a black agent husband disguised as an ordinary office worker and a sweet and savage wife who dreams of a perfect family.
PD Jang Jung Do said, “It is a story about family. It started with a story about people’s beliefs. Nowadays, there are many conflicts among families, and many people do not try to form a family. It started with a story about whether we can live together, trust, forgive, and sacrifice for our family.”
This work combines various genres such as action and comedy. PD Jang Jung-do explained, “It is a mixed-genre, so it wasn’t easy to switch between codes. However, I had a lot of discussions with the actors about this part. Many people who have a lot of experience on the set helped me a lot, and we had a lot of talks about harmony through consensus.”
The cast members also revealed the highlights of the work. Jang Hyuk teased, “It’s like an omnibus of genres. There are complicated parts in relationships and connections, but if you look closely, everything has a reason. There are also twists on twists.”
Jang Nara said, “There are so many highlights. I felt like I was falling into a well while acting. It’s so fun and different. As time goes by, you can see an expanded world, and if you keep watching, you will feel an unimaginable amount of fun.”
Chae Jung An said, “Since the script didn’t come out all at once, I kept watching it with suspicion. There are many twists.” Kim Nam Hee also recommended the drama, saying, “It’s a perfect blend of action, laughter, and heartwarming emotions.”
Chae Jung An plays the role of Oh Chun-ryeon, a professional agent of the National Intelligence Service who disguises herself as a member of Kwun Do-hoon’s (played by Jang Hyuk) trading company, while Kim Nam-hee plays the role of a suspicious uninvited guest, Jo Tae-gu, who comes to shake up Kang Yoo-ra’s life in ‘Family’.
The two actors revealed the reason for their appearance in the drama. Chae Jung-an honestly said, “I appeared in the drama because I thought Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk would be successful again.” She also said, “When I read the script, I felt like I had to do this role. It was so attractive. I also want to succeed through this drama.”
Kim Nam Hee said, “I liked the fact that I could do both comedy and action. I don’t have much experience in action, but since Jang Hyuk senior is there, I thought it would be great just to watch him from the side.”
Meanwhile, “Family” will air for the first time on April 17 at 8:50 p.m.
