“Squid Game” Director Confirms Plans For Season Two
“Squid Game” season two is happening!!
On November 8, Netflix’s mega-hit series “Squid Game” held a promotional event in Los Angeles which was attended by the series cast and the director himself.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Director Hwang Dong Hyuk confirmed there will be season two of the show.
He said,
“There has been so much demand, pressure and love for a second season. It almost feels like we don’t have a choice. The next season is in my head right now. At this moment, it is in the planning stages. It’s too early to tell when its coming out, but I promise that the main character, Gi Hun, will be back.”
While there have been hints at the possibility of a second season of the show, this is the first time the director confirmed it. Netflix has yet to officially renew the series for a second season.
My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.
Everyone saw that coming. You know what would’ve been weird? If there was no season two of the show. Netflix has renewed a lot of lesser interesting dramas and since this is one of their biggest projects ever, you bet a 2nd season is coming.
When I reviewed the ending, I talked about how I was okay with there being no season two for the drama. The ending was fine in my opinion, I still feel the same way. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited for the second season but even if it didn’t happen, I was going to be okay with that. I think the director didn’t anticipate this much love for the drama and with people wanting to find out what happens next, of course, a second season is in order.
I can’t imagine the pressure Hwang Dong Hyuk must be feeling right now. I have high expectations but I don’t know if anything will ever come close to how good the first season was. Hope he ends up delivering.
