On the 17th of July, a press conference for the drama “Not Others” was held at Stanford Hotel in Seoul. At the press conference, director Lee Min Woo and Jeon Hye Jin, Sooyoung, Ahn Jae Wook, and Park Sung Hoon attended.
“Not Others” is based on the webtoon of the same name from Kakao, depicting the chaotic lives and romances of a mother and her cool daughter living together.
During the conference, Sooyoung said, “In the drama, I play the role of Jin-hee, the daughter of Eun-mi. My mother’s role is someone who is so accident-prone and busy catching the bad guys. It’s a role where, at the age of thirty, I experience delayed adolescence in my role as her daughter and our relationship as mother and daughter.”
Sooyoung also explained her reason for taking on the role, saying, “I’ve seen many family stories and mother-daughter stories, but ‘Not Others’ tells the story in a fresh way, and I wanted to do it because Jeon Hye Jin sunbae was doing it.”
Regarding her on-screen mother-daughter chemistry with Jeon Hye Jin, she said, “My fans would probably know that I’ve expressed my like for Jeon Hye Jin senior a lot. I was such a fan that I asked my acquaintances to introduce me to her.”
She further added, “I imagined meeting her in the drama as a boss or an older sister, but I never imagined meeting her as a mother. But because it’s a drama called ‘Not Others,’ it made such a thing possible, and I always wanted to do a family drama, so I feel like I got a gift through the drama.”
Sooyoung also expressed her joy, saying, “I feel like it’s a rare stroke of luck in life. Even though she’s a senior, I don’t feel intimidated by her, and I’ve approached her as a person. We even had a few drinking gatherings.”
In response, Jeon Hye Jin said, “She made me not feel like a senior,” and jokingly remarked, “It’s like saying, ‘This is how the kids these days are.’ I like that style.” She showed affection, saying, “I like that style.”
