The candidates were Rye On and Shin Ye Eun from “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse,” Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung from ‘Romantic Dr. Kim 3,’ and Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung from “My Demon.”
Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung received overwhelming votes, showing a strong fan base. However, after the voting deadline, SBS added a post stating, “In addition to the website voting results, the Best Couple is selected based on the votes of each drama’s production team, SBS and Studio S employees, ratings, and other factors.”
As a result, some criticized the addition of judging criteria, speculating that it was added because Song Kang would be absent due to various schedules. Netizens reacted, saying, “The difference in votes between the first place, My Demon, and the second place is almost three times, with a difference of 220,000 votes”, “Is this a way of saying they won’t give the award?”, “Is it because Song Kang won’t be attending?”
Regarding the controversy over the voting method, SBS stated to Xsports News on this day, “The criteria for the Best Couple Award has been the same every year, and this year, due to many inquiries about the award criteria, it has been made explicit.
