Ryu Seung Ryong captivated viewers with his unprecedented comedy acting in the Netflix series “Chicken Nugget” and revealed he’s taking a break from comedic acting for the time being.

On the afternoon of the 19th of March, an interview with actor Ryu Seung Ryong was conducted at a cafe in Seoul.

Netflix’s original series “Chicken Nugget” is a quirky comedy mystery drama about a father, Sun-man (played by Ryu Seung Ryong), trying to turn back his daughter, Min-ah (played by Kim Yoo Jung), who turned into a chicken nugget after entering a mysterious machine, and the quirky relationship between him and Baek-jung (played by Ahn Jae Hong) who has a crush on her.

During the interview that day, Ryu Seung Ryong expressed, “The way the story unfolds even when people turn into chicken nuggets and aliens appear is very human. I hope the quirkiness is seen as one of the fun aspects of the work. Due to the nature of the subject, there may be mixed reactions, but I hope that different responses will come as time goes by.”

From “Moving” to “Chicken Nugget,” Ryu Seung Ryong continuously meets the public with works that have novelty as their weapon. Regarding this, he said, “I like both classic and fusion styles. I have various tastes, and I have a sense of challenge for unique genres. I was drawn to the novelty of ‘Chicken Nugget.’ I felt that it was a work that I couldn’t miss out on forever.”

Regarding the high expectations of the public for Ryu Seung Ryong’s comedy after the movie “Extreme Job,” he said, “I have a fondness for comedy. Especially, I am attracted to rare genres like ‘Chicken Nugget. I particularly enjoy genres that incorporate novelty, like the movies ‘Save the Green Planet’ and ‘Killing Romance.'”

He also mentioned, “As I search for such works, I feel like it’s time to take a sabbatical. I want to show a different side of myself. As an actor, I don’t want to solidify into one image. I have no intention of quitting comedy. I just think that I should appear when the audience wants to see me make them laugh.”

“Chicken Nugget” is available for streaming on Netflix.
