Director Park Joon-woo, known for “Taxi Driver,” returns with Korea’s first traffic crime investigative drama titled “Crash.”

On the 26th of February, ENA announced, “The casting for the new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Crash,’ scheduled to air in May, has been confirmed with actors Lee Min Ki, Kwak Sun Young, Heo Sung Tae, Lee Ho cheol, and Moon Hee.”

“Crash” delves into the chaotic pursuit of crimes on the road by an unnoticed traffic crime investigation team. It distinguishes itself as the first Korean drama to focus more on traffic crimes which produces more victims than murders, drawing attention to the genre.

Director Park Joon-woo, who previously caused a sensation with the crime drama “Taxi Driver,” is anticipated to infuse realism into the world of increasing traffic crimes.

The cast includes Lee Min Ki as the newcomer head of the Traffic Crime Investigation team, Cha Yeon-ho. With an unusual background as a graduate of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and numerous certifications related to traffic crime investigation, Cha Yeon-ho boasts outstanding analytical and deductive skills. Lee Min-ki’s unique charm is expected to create another memorable role.

Kwak Sun Young takes on the role of Min So-hee, the leader of TCI. Min So-hee, an ace investigator, possesses persistence and determination, solving cases single-handedly. Known for her agility and proficient driving skills, she is a traffic crime investigation expert.

Heo Sung Tae plays the role of TCI team leader, Jung Chae-man. Jung Chae-man, a veteran in the violent crime unit, forms the robust TCI, recognizing the flaws and absence of systems in investigating the increasing traffic crimes.

Lee Ho Cheol is cast as the car specialist, Woo Dong-ki. Woo Dong-ki, who became a police officer through special recruitment due to his outstanding abilities in analyzing cars, has an unexpected timid side, making him an intriguing character.

Moon Hee portrays the youngest member of TCI, Uh Hyeon-gyeong. With a background in various martial arts, including taekwondo, judo, and boxing, she contributes her exceptional martial arts skills to combat criminals on the road.

The production team stated, “‘Crash’ focuses on various episodes and incidents related to traffic crimes, such as insurance fraud, hit-and-run accidents, car theft, reckless driving groups, retaliatory driving, self-harm hostage situations, and gang wreckers, showcasing the team’s investigation of these cases.” They added, “Lee Min Ki, Kwak Sun Young, Heo Sung Tae, Lee Ho Cheol, and Moon Hee, as the TCI police officers, will work together with Director Park Joon-woo to provide viewers with an exhilarating crime investigation drama that breaks through the frustrations of daily life.”

The drama is scheduled to air some time in May.
