Lee Hyun Wook And Cha Jo Young Confirmed For Historical 2024 tvN Drama
tvN and Tving’s new drama “Wongyeong” has confirmed the casting of actors Lee Hyun Wook And Cha Jo Young!
“Wongyeong” is a drama set in the early Joseon era that depicts the fiery life journey of Wongyeong, the “kingmaker” who dreams of a new world and makes her husband, Yi Bang-won, the third king, and the “co-founder of royal power.” Although she is recorded in historical records only as “Jungbi” or “Lady Min,” she is a queen who lived an independent life without losing herself in the midst of betrayal and harsh realities.
The drama also aims to recreate the relationship between Wongyeong and Yi Bang-won, who joined forces to change the world and passionately loved and conflicted with each other from a new perspective. Cha Joo Young will play the role of Wongyeong. Wongyeong, born as the daughter of Lady Minje, one of the 15 noble families of the Goryeo Dynasty, is a bright and self-aware woman with a dream to change the world. That is why she chooses Yi Bang-won as her husband and helps him become the king of Joseon, creating a new regime together. However, Yi Bang-won, who was once supportive, destroys his family and constantly takes other women as his mistresses, but Wongyeong never compromises or bends in the face of such betrayal and conflict.
Lee Hyun Wook plays the role of Yi Bang-won, Wongyeong’s husband and the third king of Joseon. Yi Bang-won is a man filled with inferiority complex as a “village boy” from Dongbuk-myeon, who married a woman who is better than him and is an unacknowledged king by his father. He is also the embodiment of the desire to overcome his inferiority complex, to be acknowledged, and to become a great king, with responsibilities such as having killed numerous people and seeking the legitimacy of the revolution. He even has distorted thoughts that he can control and destroy even his wife, who was the only woman he truly loved and his political partner, if she becomes an obstacle.
“Wongyeong” will be released on tvN and Tving in 2024.
