The drama “The Uncanny Counter 2” is set to return after 2 and a half years since its first season’s success. The highest-rated drama in OCN history, “The Uncanny Counter,” is making a comeback on tvN this time, aiming to prove its popularity once again.

On the 21st of July, a press conference for the new tvN weekend drama, “The Uncanny Counter 2” was held. Director Yoo Sun-dong, along with actors Jo Byeong Gyu, Yoo Jun Sang, Kim Sejeong, Yeom Hye Ran, Ahn Seok Hwan, Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hieora , and Yoo In Soo attended the event.

“The Uncanny Counter 2” is a thrilling and sweat-inducing hero drama that follows the “counters,” demon hunters who have become stronger with new abilities and the addition of new members, as they fight against increasingly evil demons on Earth.

Director Yoo Sun Dong, who continues to lead the series, expressed his determination not to get complacent just because Season 1 was successful. He said, “There’s no room for complacency. The shooting for Season 2 is tougher for the actors. I told them to prepare both physically and mentally before coming to the set. It was really challenging filming with one action scene per day. But both the existing and new cast members acted with great passion. Personally, I am more satisfied with Season 2 than Season 1.”

Jo Byeong Gyu addressed the controversy surrounding school violence that arose after Season 1’s conclusion. He stated, “I did my best to prove that the allegations of school violence were not true, and I am still doing my best. There is someone overseas, and it will take time to reach a conclusion. As the broadcast is approaching before a definite conclusion is made, I feel a heavy responsibility as an actor.”

Furthermore, he added, “As I have a sense of responsibility, I put even more effort into Season 2, relying on the darker aspects. I am well aware that this drama is the result of the tremendous efforts, blood, and sweat put in by the many staff members, director, fellow actors, and seniors. As this is not just about me personally, but a production announcement, I hope that there will be a lot of interest in ‘The Uncanny Counter 2.'”

Yoo Jun Sang also expressed excitement at reuniting with his fellow counters and hinted at a possible long run for the series, even suggesting “Season 7” as a possibility, he said, “I felt thrilled the moment we met. It was like we were genuine Counters. I carefully thought about going all the way to Season 7.”

Kim Sejeong said, “I have returned as Do Ha-na. Since we had established good chemistry in Season 1, I am happy that the chemistry is still great this time. However, I am cautious not to make it look too familiar or similar to before. I studied the script with a mindset of continuous research and effort.”

Kim Sejeong also mentioned that a new character, a collaborator with Do Ha-na and her ‘demon radar,’ will appear in the series, bringing about changes. She said, “The life of a human radar is very tiring. But now that there’s a collaborator, I think it will relieve some burden. There are many changes compared to Season 1.”

Yoo In Soo expressed that he was a fan of ‘The Uncanny Counter’ Season 1, so being able to join the new season was an honor. He said, “I had high expectations about being part of this project. At first, when I received the offer to appear in the drama, I was contemplating because I thought I would play a demon role. However, when they said it was ‘Counter,’ my anticipation and pressure grew from that moment on. While playing Jeok-bong, I gained weight. The director said he wanted Jeok-bong to be seen as a pure child, so I tried my best to bring out that innocence from within me,” explaining his acting approach.

“The Uncanny Counter 2” premieres on tvN on the 29th of this month at 9:20 PM.
