IU has celebrated her 14th debut anniversary with a generous donation, once again, to charities.
EDAM Entertainment has revealed that the singer-actress donated 200 million won (~$144,000) to charity. 100 million won went to Asan Social Welfare Foundation and 100 million won to the Seoul Metropolitan Child Welfare Association. The funds will be used for cancer treatment for women and children with financial difficulties while the other donation will help young people prepare for financial independence.
IU expressed her gratitude to Uaena [her fandom name] for the miracles that happened over the past 14 years. She also said the time she got to spend with her fans was her ‘golden hour’ which is also a reference to the recent Seoul concerts she held which have the same title.
