Is Moon Chae Won Skipping This Year’s SBS Drama Awards Due To Co-Star Lee Sun Kyun Ongoing Drug Investigation?
There is growing interest in whether the actress Moon Chae Won will attend the ‘2023 SBS Drama Awards.’
A representative from her agency, IOK Company, stated on the 8th of December to Star Today, “It is true that she received an invitation, but nothing has been decided, and we plan to discuss it later. There has been no further contact regarding her appearance.”
Moon Chae Won appeared in the SBS drama ‘Payback,’ which aired from January to February this year. The drama, depicting the thrilling revenge of money dealer Eun Yong (played by Lee Sun Kyun) and legal technician Jun-kyung (played by Moon Chae Won) against a cartel, recorded the highest viewership rating of 11.4% (Nielsen Korea nationwide) at the time. This was the third-highest viewership among SBS dramas aired this year, following ‘Taxi Driver Season 2’ and ‘Dr. Romantic 3.’
However, speculation arose in October when Lee Sun Kyun, who played the lead role, became embroiled in drug allegations, leading to conjectures about Moon Chae Won also skipping the awards ceremony.
Regarding this, an SBS official stated, “The attendance of all actors, including Moon Chae Won, is continuously being confirmed and discussed. Nothing has been decided yet.”
The ‘2023 SBS Drama Awards’ is scheduled to take place on the 29th of this month.
