Han Suk Kyu Confirmed To Lead First MBC Drama In Nearly 30 Years
Actor Han Suk Kyu is set to return to MBC dramas after more than 30 years.
The upcoming drama, tentatively titled “The Intimate Betrayer,” revolves around Korea’s top profiler, Jang Tae-soo (played by Han Suk Kyu), who becomes entangled in the secrets of his daughter related to a murder. Tae-soo, who voluntarily walks the path of crime behavior analysis from an unfamiliar time when the term “profiling” was new, gains unparalleled respect and trust within the police organization. However, everything is shaken to its core after a certain incident. Struggling to protect his beloved daughter, he engages in a fierce battle to uncover the truth.
Han Suk Kyu’s return to MBC comes after 29 years since “Hotel” (1995). The drama is scheduled to air in the second half of next year on Fridays and Saturdays. It will be directed by Song Yeon-hwa PD, who directed “Wild Boar Hunt” (2022). The script, written by Han A-young, was selected in the MBC Drama Script Contest in 2021 and has been developed into a mini-series over three years.
