Two new kdramas have premiered on February 12 and the ratings numbers are in.

On February 12, both JTBC’s “Forecasting Love and Weather” and tvN’s “Twenty Five, Twenty One” aired their highly-anticipated premieres, both dramas did exceptionally well on their premiere.

Forecasting Love and Weather” tells the story of work and romance of people who work at the weather forecast service. Park Min Young is taking on the role of Jin Ha Kyung, an intelligent character with a cold and sensitive personality. Song Kang is taking on the role of Lee Si Woo, a guy who appears clumsy but has an IQ of 150 and is serious about his job.

According to Nielsen Korea, “Forecasting Love and Weather” first episode recorded an average nationwide rating of 4.5%, a significantly higher number than what was achieved by its predecessor “Snowdrop,” the drama that previously occupied its time slot. [“Snowdrop” ratings hovered around 2-3% throughout the majority of its run]

Meanwhile, tvN aired “Twenty-Five Twenty-One,” a drama set in the year 1998 and tells the story of two people who meet when they are 22 and 18 and begin their love story four years later when they are 25 and 21. It will focus on the romance between the youth, growth, and friendship. Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk star as Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin, who meet when they are 22 and 18 and again when they are 25 and 21.

“Twenty Five, Twenty One” also did better than its predecessor drama “Bulgasal” with its premiere, it scored an average nationwide rating of 6.4%

My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.

Wow! Great, looks like Min Young and Song Kang might be able to save this JTBC time slot after all.

I’ve seen both drama premieres and I personally enjoyed “Twenty Five, Twenty One” a bit more but both look promising. I am so happy to see “Twenty Five, Twenty One” premiered to such high ratings, if it stays this interesting, I think it might become another hit for tvN.

In regards to “Forecasting Love and Weather,” looks like the marketing JTBC has done for the drama is working. 4.5% is very good for a premiere episode. I am so curious to see how both dramas end up doing on the long run.

Kdramaland is currently dry with many kdramas taking two weeks hiatus because of the Olympics while the majority of what premiered in December of 2021 coming to an end. We begin what can be labeled the first batch of 2022 kdramas.
