The request for a provisional injunction to suspend the effect of the exclusive contract, filed by Yu Junwon, who reportedly left the group Fantasy Boys without permission, against the production company Funky Studio, has been rejected.

On the 24th of November, the 21st Civil Division of the Seoul Western District Court rejected Yu Junwon’s application for a provisional injunction to suspend the effect of the exclusive contract against Funky Studio. Yu Junwon’s side will bear the litigation costs.

The judge deemed that there was insufficient evidence to support the claim that Funky Studio made unreasonable demands on Yu Junwon or that it damaged the trust between creditor and debtor to such an extent. Furthermore, the judge stated that most of the contract terms presented by Funky Studio to Yu Junwon were in accordance with the standard exclusive contract, and it is difficult to see the points raised by Yu Junwon as particularly unfair compared to the standard exclusive contract.

Yu Junwon achieved first place in MBC’s audition program ‘Boy’s Fantasy – After School Excitement’ Season 2, produced by Funky Studio. He was scheduled to debut as the center of Fantasy Boys. However, Yu Junwon left the team without permission in August of this year. The remaining members debuted in September.

Yu Junwon’s side submitted the application for provisional injunction on August 22nd. Regarding this, Funky Studio, the production company of ‘Boy’s Fantasy’, and Pocket Doll Studio, which was entrusted with management, announced on the following day, the 23rd, “We would like to inform you that Yu Junwon, who was chosen as a member of Fantasy Boys through ‘Boy’s Fantasy’, will not be able to participate in group activities due to unauthorized departure.”

They also explained, “After the program ended, our company had discussions with Yu Junwon and his parents regarding the contract on more than ten occasions. Despite the fact that the contract was drafted in accordance with the standard terms and conditions recommended by the Fair Trade Commission, Yu Junwon’s parents demanded adjustments to the profit distribution rate under the pretext of him achieving first place in the program compared to other members, and requested modifications to the contract.”
