YG Entertainment’s new girl group, BABYMONSTER, will debut as a six-member group.
YG Entertainment (hereafter YG) announced on the 15th of November that “BABYMONSTER will debut with six members: Haram, Rora, Pharita, Chiquita, Ruka and Asa.”
Originally, BABYMONSTER was planned to debut as a seven-member group, including Ahyeon. However, due to health reasons, Ahyeon will take a break for the time being after careful discussions.
YG stated, “We are disappointed that we cannot introduce Ahyeon as a member of BABYMONSTER, but we made this decision for the artist’s health. We will spare no support to ensure Ahyeon fully recovers and returns in good condition.”
This comes after a media outlet reported the idol is not debuting with her group due to health issues but added that there is a possibility that she might join the group later on.
Ahyeon was introduced as a ‘center with confidence’ who is capable of both vocals and rap. YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk once referred to Ahyeon as a “warrior with many weapons” and she was often compared to BLACKPINK’s Jennie or nicknamed “Little Jennie.” However, her debut has been postponed due to health reasons.
BABYMONSTER is a multinational group launched by YG Entertainment, which is debuting a girl group for the first time in seven years since BLACKPINK. The group consists of members from Korea, Thailand, Japan, etc., and they have been attracting attention in the global music market even before their debut, as they possess outstanding vocal, dance, rap, and visual abilities.
With the confirmed debut date set for the 27th amidst growing anticipation, BABYMONSTER is heightening the expectations of K-pop fans. The agency has been releasing individual members’ teasers.
