The famous rapper who turned himself to the police turned out to be Sik-k!

According to a report from TenAsia on the 29th of April, it has been confirmed that the famous rapper who turned himself in to the police claiming drug intake in January is Sik-k (30, Kwon Min-sik).

At the time, the surrender for drug use was a rare case and became a hot topic, but the exact identity of the rapper wasn’t disclosed as the investigation was still ongoing before prosecution. He was known to have said, “Is this a police station?” and caused confusion, and the police sent him to a nearby police station for protection. Sik-k was indicted by the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, but he was released without detention.

During the police investigation, the National Forensic Service confirmed through precise analysis that he had a positive reaction to marijuana.

Until recently, Sik-k has been actively involved in various activities, including releasing a new album in February. He was also scheduled to perform at the “Hip-Hop Playa Festival” on May 4th. Although he is still included in the promotional lineup, it is expected to be difficult to avoid controversy if he is allowed to perform on stage as he has been charged with drug offenses.

Later, Sik-k’s legal representative addressed the situation and dispelled various rumors that had popped up since that report.

The law firm stated, “Sik-k did not go to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station in a state of drug use, and although he is being investigated for marijuana smoking and possession, it is true that no detectable traces of philopon were found in his hair, as reported.”

Regarding his state when he went to the police station, The law firm stated, “On the morning of January 19th, Sik-k, who was suffering from sleep disorders, confessed to a police officer on duty near the Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office about his drug use, and he was taken to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station after going through a local police station for investigation and was released.”

They also emphasized, “No traces of philopon or any other drugs mentioned in the media were found in the urine sample collected by the requestor at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station. The requestor wants to clarify that on the day of the police attendance, January 19, 2024, regardless of the type, he was not under the influence of drugs.” The claim is that the behavior exhibited during the police attendance process was not due to drug use but rather a symptom of disorientation after surgery.

Furthermore, they added, “The requestor was investigated for the violation of the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana) at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, and as mentioned in the article, the case has been transferred to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office. The requestor admitted and turned himself in for simple possession and smoking of marijuana. However, the possession and smoking of marijuana did not occur at the time of attending the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, but before the shoulder rotation surgery.”
