Singer Charlie Park (real name Park Young-chul) has passed away at the age of 68. Despite the difficult family circumstances, his son, a member of the group Shinhwa, Jun Jin, is guarding the funeral home.

On the 7th of November, Jun Jin’s agency, Liveworks Company, confirmed the news stating, “It is true that Charlie Park passed away on the 6th.”

The funeral home for the deceased has been prepared at Anyang Metro Hospital Funeral Hall, and the departure is scheduled for the 9th. Jun Jin is guarding the funeral home together with his wife.

Charlie Park made his debut in the music industry as a saxophonist in the US 8th Army in 1979. He debuted as a singer with the song “Casanova Love” in 2004. He also worked as an actor, appearing in the KBS 2TV drama “It’s Okay to Love” in 2007.

However, his family life was difficult. Charlie Park divorced after having a son, Jun Jin, and continued to go through two more marriages and divorces. As a result, Jun Jin grew up without even knowing his biological mother’s face, and later expressed his desire to find his mother, saying, “I wanted to become famous as a singer and find my biological mother.”

Despite Jun Jin supporting his father Charlie Park’s dream for a long time, they became estranged about three years ago. In a broadcast of an MBN show in 2020, Charlie Park revealed his struggle with a stroke and his life alone in an underground practice room.

At the time, Charlie Park said, “I cut off ties with my son Jun Jin. I didn’t even attend his wedding. I hope he lives a happy and healthy life with Ryu Yi-seo without worrying about me. My son even took care of my hospital bills. He invested in me and provided a lot of support, putting aside his own work for ten days. I’m sorry.” It is known that Jun Jin has been repaying a significant amount of debt that Charlie Park had accumulated for several years, during his difficult times.

May his soul rest in peace.
