Samuel Kim Wins Lawsuit Against Brave Entertainment, His Contract Is Canceled

The three-year-long battle is finally over and Samuel Kim has come on top.

On November 17, Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Samuel Kim and dismissed Brave Entertainment’s suit for damages of 1 billion won (approximately $846,380). The judges stated that the contract signed between both parties on June 9, 2014, is not valid as well.

Samuel Kim has been engaged in a lawsuit with Brave Entertainment for three years. Samuel Kim stated that he’s happy to have won the lawsuit and is happy for the truth came across.

He also posted to his Instagram account thanking fans for sticking by his side, he wrote,

“Thank you Garnet [Samuel’s fans] for praying for me, believing in me and waiting for me for this long time. I can’t put it into words. The heavens is on my side. It’s all thanks to you.”

Samuel Kim filed a lawsuit against the agency in May of 2019. He wanted to dissolve his contract. In his suit, he claimed that the trust between him and his agency was compromised citing wrongful performance contracts and settlement-related issues. During their legal battle, he filed a separate criminal complaint against Brave Brothers, claiming the producer and CEO had forged private documents and embezzled funds. Brave Brothers was cleared of those charges.

The idol debuted as part of the duo 1PUNCH under Brave Entertainment in 2015. Through his appearance on Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2,” he gained attention and began to promote as a soloist.
