The upcoming kpop group American To Korea “A2K” show is coming soon!
Recently, JYP released a teaser video for ‘A2K’ on their YouTube channel, revealing the collaboration. The first episode of ‘A2K’ will be premiered on the 13th at 9 PM (Korean time, July 14th) on JYP’s official YouTube channel.
JYP is renowned as the ‘girl group factory,’ having discovered successful groups like Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, and ITZY. Republic Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music and the number one label in the United States according to Billboard, is home to artists such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Drake.
The collaboration between these two companies for the global girl group launching survival project, based on the first K-pop training system in North America, has attracted significant attention.
The teaser video released showcases audition scenes held in five major cities in the United States, including Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Dallas, and LA, starting from September last year, as well as glimpses of applicants from various countries around the world. It also captured Park Jin-young’s expressions of admiration, such as “It seems like an amazing group will come out of these kids,” further raising expectations.
Park Jin Young commented on the significance of the ‘A2K’ launch, stating, “‘A2K’ is the most significant project for me personally and for JYP. Not only is the United States the largest market globally, but I also established JYP based on Motown Records in the United States, and I was influenced by how they developed artists.” He further added, “We have implemented a new stage where we discover raw talent and provide a perfect training system that helps them grow into true artists, performers, and leaders. It feels surreal that 25 years later, I’m returning to the market where I got the inspiration.”
Monte Lipman, the CEO and Chairman of Republic Records, also expressed strong expectations for the new project, stating, “Park Jin Young, who is a K-pop icon and pioneer, continues to create a special resonance in the music market and popular culture. If JYP’s extraordinary value and musical know-how are applied to American artists, it will be an opportunity to create a globally successful super girl group in the global music market.”
