French Influencer Rudely Shoulders IU At The 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Issues Apology

A French influencer has apologized to IU publicly after being met with backlash for the way she shouldered her at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

On May 27, a video clip of the influencer shouldering IU during the festival went viral. She bumped into IU and continued to walk as if nothing happened. IU appears to have been surprised by it as her entire body shifted after the bump.

After seeing the video, netizens began talking about the incident and some began to message the influencer about what she had done.

Maria Travel has since apologized to IU. She said,

“I’m not good at English, but I will do my best to speak. I want to apologize for what happened on the red carpet today.

I want to apologize to actress Lee Ji-eun. It was my mistake to hit her. I sincerely apologize.”

IU had attended the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of her movie “Broker,” she attended alongside Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, and Lee Joo Young.

Despite Maria Travel’s apology, many Korean and international fans continued to criticize her for her attitude, many say she only apologized because she found out the person she shouldered was a very famous person.

Ever since her Instagram is filled with comments from IU fans, she posted a video of the event and even tagged IU in the post which angered many fans, the post has over 11k comments and very few likes in comparison. She has since disabled the comments due to the amount of hate she’s getting.

She’s also since messaged IU on Instagram apologizing to her.
