After we reported that Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo were in talks for the same project, more details about the project have come out and fans are excited already!

It has gathered attention that the production budget for the upcoming work of writer No Hee-kyung, featuring Gong Yoo And Song Hye Kyo, is estimated to be 80 billion won [over $58 million].

According to OSEN’s exclusive report on the 25th of April, the new work written by No Hee-kyung is a 20-24-part drama set against the backdrop of the growth of the Korean show business industry from the aftermath of the Korean War in 1950 to the 1980s.

In particular, the report alleges that the episode production cost for this new work is estimated to be in the early 3 billion won range, with the total production budget expected to reach 80 billion won. Currently, discussions are underway for the drama to be premiered on an OTT platform.

Last year, the Disney+ original series ‘Mouving’ invested over 50 billion won in production costs and released a total of 20 episodes. Despite the scale that is difficult to achieve domestically, it achieved global success and received great love. As No Hee-kyung’s new work is a period drama with a longer episode count, it is anticipated that the production budget will exceed that of “Moving.”

However, since a complete script has not yet been finalized, there is still a possibility of changes. Regarding this, Studio Dragon cautiously stated to OSEN, “As it is a work in the planning stage without a script, the exact episode count and production budget are undecided.”

Until now, No Hee-kyung has presented works with a deep insight and exceptional storytelling, and there is curiosity about what kind of work she will show by “scaling up” the production. Additionally, the meeting of the two top stars, Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo, is also becoming a topic of interest.
