What is going on with BABYMONSTER’s November debut? and is it happening any time soon?
Former YG CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, has taken a heavy step towards returning to his original position. Last year, Yang was acquitted in the first trial, but he has now been found guilty. This happened at a time when YG was preparing for the debut of the group BABYMONSTER.
The Seoul High Court’s Criminal 6-3 Division sentenced Yang to six months in prison, suspended for one year, for charges of retaliation and coercion under the Specific Crimes Punishment Act.
Yang was prosecuted without detention on charges of retaliating and coercing A, who was arrested for drug charges in August 2016, after A testified about former iKON member B.I’s drug purchase. The court respected the decision of the first trial, which found Yang not guilty of retaliation and coercion, but added that he was guilty of demanding a meeting. It was concluded that Yang had exerted his influence during the situation where he coerced A, who was a trainee and victim.
In January, Yang personally announced the debut of YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER through an official video. Since then, through his appearances in BABYMONSTER’s promotional videos, it became clear that he was fully dedicated to his role as the overall producer.
