The upcoming KBS drama “Run Into You” stars talked about the drama at its press conference, here is what they had to share with fans!

Recently, the press conference for the new KBS2 drama “Run Into You” (written by Baek So-yeon, directed by Kang Soo-yeon) was held. Director Kang Soo-yeon and actors Kim Dong Wook, Jin Ki Joo, Seo Ji Hye, and Lee Won Jung attended the event and shared various stories about the production.

“Run Into You” is a strange and beautiful time travel story of a man and a woman trapped in 1987. Yun Hae-jun (Kim Dong Wook) and Baek Yun-young (Jin Ki Joo) realize that their goals are connected and set out to uncover the truth behind a series of past murders.

Director Kang talked about the reason he took on the directing role, saying, “I got to work on my third project with the writer. When the writer said they wanted to do a mini-series with me, I was happy, but at first, I didn’t want to do it because it was a time-slip genre. I thought there were already many good time-slip dramas and that it would be boring, but I was hooked on the story of going back to the past and becoming friends with the mother.”

The time-slip genre has received a lot of love, so what sets ‘Run Into You’ apart? Director Kang said, “It’s because there is a time machine. Usually, they go back to the past by some fantasy device, but in this drama, they go through a specific tunnel by car and travel through time and space. The question of how this time machine appears will be gradually resolved.”

As the drama is set in the 1980s, there was also an effort to create that era. Director Kang said, “We tried to interpret it in a modern way. We invested a lot, including making our own open sets with the art team,” and emphasized that the vivid implementation resulted in satisfying and confident outcomes.

The actors revealed that they decided to appear in the drama because they were attracted to the time-slip genre. Kim Dong Wook said, “The subject matter is unique, and there are mystery and thriller elements, but there’s also an emotional drama about creating a family and falling in love. I was greedy to be able to show both the genre and emotional aspects well.” Jin Ki Joo said, “I wanted to appear in it because of the scene where I see my mother in the past. There’s a narration in the script that made my heart thump, and it was really good.”

“Run Into You” airs its first episode on May 1st.
