It has been reported that Park Gyu Young and Jo Yu Ri have joined the cast of Netflix’s original series “Squid Game 2”, which has officially entered production.

According to Sports News on the 23rd of June, Jo Yu Ri has been cast in Netflix’s original series, later, the news of Park Gyu Young’s addition to the cast was also reported.

However, both agencies have taken a cautious stance, stating that they cannot confirm the information.

Nevertheless, “Squid Game 2”, which has been shrouded in secrecy during the casting and pre-production stages, is a project that even the involved parties are keeping strictly confidential.

Previously, Netflix announced that Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Gong Yoo and Wi Ha Joon, who are the protagonists of season 1, will appear in the 2nd season. In addition to the original cast, Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Geun join as well.

However, there has been criticism regarding the absence of female characters, as all eight major cast members were announced without any female representation. This was surprising considering the notable performances by actresses Jung Ho Yeon, Kim Joo Ryoung, and Lee Yoo Mi in Season 1, which received global attention. Some have questioned whether the series is only meant for male viewers.

Meanwhile, “Squid Game 2” is scheduled to begin full-scale production in the second half of the year.
