“My Lovely Liar” has gathered for the press conference of the highly anticipated drama.
Hwang Minhyun will be starring as the genius composer Kim Doha, who hides his true identity, in the new tvN drama “My Lovely Liar” set to premiere on the 31st. He will be acting alongside Kim So Hyun. The drama revolves around the romance between Mok Solhee (played by Kim So Hyun), a woman who can detect lies, making it hard for her to trust people, and Kim Doha.
At the production presentation held online on the 27th, Hwang Minhyun, Kim So Hyun, Seo Ji Hoon, Lee Si Woo, and Yun Ji On and the director were in attendance.
Hwang Minhyun introduced his character Kim Doha, saying, “Kim Doha is a person whose life has been severed due to a secret from his childhood. I wanted to show his growth as he unravels this secret together with Solhee.”
In the early part of the drama, Kim Doha hides his face behind a mask due to the secret he holds. Hwang Minhyun shared, “I found it interesting how a person with pain meets someone, falls in love, and goes through a process of growth. It wasn’t easy to act when everything except my eyes was covered.”
He continued, “At first, I was worried because the character is unpredictable and awkward. But I think everyone has their own scars and experiences overcoming them through others, so I believe the audience will empathize with the character’s growth.”
Kim So Hyun, who plays the role of Mok Solhee, a “liar-hunter” disguised as a shaman, expressed the challenges she faced in portraying her character’s ability to discern lies. She said, “I wanted to have the ability to discern lies, but during the acting, I felt really exhausted. As people around me gradually disappeared, I felt lonely.”
Seo Ji Hoon, who plays the role of Lee Kangmin, a principled detective and Solhee’s ex-boyfriend, hinted at a poignant love story with his past lover. He shared, “Lee Kangmin’s feelings towards Solhee are still ongoing. The difficult part was that I couldn’t show my emotions openly, and I had to be careful not to appear too picky or tedious.”
Lee Si Woo who takes on the role of Sha-On, revealed that her character has had a crush on Doha for a long time. She said, “I consider Sha-On as Doha’s soulmate, as she makes the songs he desires and thinks of him both musically and personally.” For this project, she took on her first attempt at dancing. “Recently, I learned a lot by watching idols, especially the group NewJeans. Hwang Minhyun gave me advice like, ‘It might be difficult for you since you haven’t done dancing and singing before.'”
Nam PD who is directing the drama said, “For this project, I combined all the skills I have acquired. I thought a lot about how to convey the excitement suitable for the age of the actors.”
