The universe of the drama ‘Strong Woman’ continues to expand.

According to broadcasting officials, a 3rd installment following “Strong Girl Namsoon” is currently in the planning stage, as the drama continues to gain popularity. JTBC has since issued a response to explain they have plans for another installment, but at the moment busy with other projects.

Writer Baek Mi-kyung previously created the first female superhero drama in Korea with “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” (2017). The fresh and delightful concept of a hereditary superpower passed down through generations, which can only be used for good, received a great deal of love and created a sensation. The second season of the series, “Strong Girl Namsoon”, which returned after six years, tells the story of a mother-daughter hero duo who confront a villain trying to dominate the world with drugs, providing thrilling catharsis and receiving a positive response.

Even though “Strong Girl Namsoon” has not yet finished airing, discussions are already underway for the next season, proving the appeal of the drama. After Park Bo Young and Lee Yoo Mi, who played Do Bong-soon and Kang Namsoon respectively, viewers are curious about the next actress who will transform into a female protagonist with superpowers.

“Strong Girl Namsoon” has currently aired up to episode 14 and recorded nationwide ratings of 9.0% and 9.6% in the Seoul metropolitan area (based on Nielsen Korea, paid households), becoming the top non-terrestrial drama in terms of ratings.

The drama has particularly gained hot reactions not only domestically but also internationally, ranking first in a total of eight countries, including Netflix Korea, Bolivia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, and Singapore (according to FlixPatrol).

  1. This is indeed really sad, no hate to the current cast. But this drama is missing what made the first one a phenomenon. I was waiting for this new drama but unfortunately I couldn’t watch it. The female lead instead of acting is a weird characterization not even funny, I even find it a bit offensive with they way she speaks. I know for a fact that this was not well received in Korea. They should not do a 3rd installment.
