Hook Entertainment has provided an explanation regarding the allegations that CEO Kwon Jin Young illegally obtained Zolpidem.

According to a report by News1 on the 23rd of June, a representative from Hook Entertainment stated, “CEO Kwon is a genuine patient who received a prescription for sleep disorder medication. The issue of proxy prescription has been thoroughly investigated.”

On the same day, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency’s Violent Crime Investigation Division announced that CEO Kwon, along with two former employees and one executive of Hook Entertainment, had been sent to the prosecution on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the police, CEO Kwon is suspected of illegally obtaining and partially using 14 tablets of Zolpidem through three former and current employees last year. During a similar period, another director, referred to as Mr. B, received two tablets of Zolpidem prescribed to employee Mr. C and passed them on to CEO Kwon.

Four medical professionals who provided proxy prescriptions to CEO Kwon are also being handed over to the prosecution on charges of violating medical laws. It was determined that these medical professionals had provided proxy prescriptions for Zolpidem to employees without CEO Kwon submitting the necessary documents such as a confirmation letter and identification card for proxy prescriptions.
