The budget for “Gyeongseong Creature” is making headlines!

Set in the Spring of 1945. Jang Tae-sang (played by Park Seo Joon) is a wealthy asset and the first information broker in Gyeongseong. He is an opportunist who fights for survival rather than the sorrow of losing his country. Money, appearance, power – he excels in everything, but consecutive trials come his way.

“Gyeongseong Creature,” which was released on Netflix during the Christmas holidays, received high attention even before its premiere. The meeting of stars such as Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, Claudia Kim, and Wi Ha Joon, the collaboration between director Jung Dong-yoon from “Stove League” and writer Kang Eun-kyung from the Dr. Romantic series, and the addition of talented actors such as Kim Hae Sook, Cho Han Chul, Park Ji Hwan, Kim Do-hyun, Choi Young Joon, and Ok Ja Yeon, made it a unique and anticipated series.

It was a large-scale production with a production cost of 70 billion won [roughly $54,331,163], making it one of the most expensive Korean productions to date, as it was filmed consecutively until season 2. Set in Gyeongseong in 1945, a period that was both dark and glamorous, the series revealed intriguing characters and secrets, as well as captivating experiments in the closed isolation ward. The meeting of a period drama with creatures was innovative, which raised high expectations.

However, according to various Korean media outlets the series failed to utilize the advantage of being an original series without an original work and had a weak narrative. The chemistry between Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee, who should shine, was also called out for being lacking. And the CG of the creatures was labeled poor and lacking in noticeable presence.

“Gyeongseong Creature” season 1 is a total of 10 episodes. Part 1, consisting of 7 episodes, was released on December 22nd, and Part 2 will be released on January 5th. There are still 3 episodes left to unravel the story of season 1.

Are you shocked by “Gyeongseong Creature” budget?
