Disney+ has surprised fans by unveiling stills of its upcoming k-content!

Disney+ will be launching this November in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and is planning to develop original content as well as partner with local broadcasting stations to distribute new kdramas and k-movies. Disney+ plans on creating over 50 original, locally-made productions by 2023.

They have recently unveiled stills of their most anticipated content to be released on their platform. This includes the following:

JTBC’s “Snowdrop”

It airs in December and is led by Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo. A Melo romantic drama about university students Su Ho and Young Ro set in 1987.

Running Man spin-off titled The One Having Fun Is Above The One Running [working title]

It will be led by HaHa, Kim Jong Kook and Ji Suk Jin. A new guest will be introduced each week.

It will be led by Kang Daniel and Chae Soo Bin. It marks Kang Daniel’s acting debut project. The drama will tell the story of the love and challenges of young people in a police university.

By award-winning author Lee Su Yeon and led by Seo Kang Joon, Kim Ah Joong and Lee Si Young.

“Kiss Six Sense”

It will be led by Yoon Kye Sang, Seo Ji Hye, and Kim Ji Suk. The drama is based on a popular webnovel and tells the story of a woman who has superpowers that grant her the ability to see the future when kissed.

It is an action-hero thriller based on a webtoon by Kang Full. It will be a large-scale drama about three people discovering their superpowers. It is led by Han Hyo Joo, Jo In Sung and Ryu Seung Ryong.

“BLACKPINK: The Movie”

It will celebrate the group’s 5th anniversary. It will be released in theaters worldwide and premiere via Disney plus too.

Which one of these projects are you most excited to see?

My personal thoughts- by Jass K.

Wow. The lineup is truly no joke, the competition is on.

I remember reading about Disney+ plans to advance into the Asian market but I didn’t know their k-collection would be this extensive. We’re in October and we already have at least news about 20 kdramas confirmed for 2022. This is fascinating.

With how much of a hit squid game turned out to be, I think more OTT services will begin the battle to capture our attention. Most of these seem like high-budget kdramas.

The ones that intrigue me the most are “Kiss Six Sense” and “Moving.” Its been ages since we’ve seen Jo In Sung in a drama, its about damn time, and I can’t wait. “Kiss Six Sense” is also an interesting idea especially since Korea is more of a conservative society so its not like the woman can activate her powers easily by asking around for kisses.
