“Squid Game” continues to enjoy massive success overseas!
The newly released Netflix series which premiered on September 17 follows a couple of contestants who join a game for the prize of 45.6 million won [$38 million], they soon find out if you lose the games, you die.
As of September 21, “Squid Game” has been ranked the No. 1 show in the ‘U.S Netflix’s top 10 in the U.S list today’ pushing “Sex Education” to the number two spot despite the drama being massively successful in the U.S and overseas.
“Squid Game” now holds the record for the highest ranking on the chart by a Korean drama, they’ve beaten the record previously set by “Sweet Home” which ranked No. 3 in late 2020.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk, known for his hit film ‘The Crucible (Silenced)’ and comedy film ‘Miss Granny’, has written and directed this project. According to him, the script has been written since 2009 but he was only recently able to bring his vision to life.
“Squid Game” is led by Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Oh Young Soo, Wi Ha Joon, Jung Ho Yeon, Ha Sung Tae, Lee Yoo Mi, and more.
